Excited About Sarah!
I'm so relieved! For months now, I felt like a voter without a candidate to represent me. Barak Obama obviously does not represent my values... but then, John McCain doesn't really either... and I grow weary of voting for the lesser of... well, you know what I mean. But now... now, I can get excited about voting again.
I must confess, I had no idea who Sarah Palin was when I heard that she was to be John McCain's running mate... but after just a little research... I knew I had someone that would speak for me in Washington... and that doesn't happen very often for me! She seems to me to be a down home, dirt under your finger nails, gritty and stick you your values kind of a person. I don't care anything about her... so called lack of experience... she can be my leader anyday.
Some think that some of us would never vote for a person because they are a woman... or because they are black or whatever... and to that, I say NON-SENSE! I'll vote for anyone who will represent my values... and to me... Sarah Palin does just that.
Now, they are questioning her because of her family problems. First of all... if you're breathing... you have family problems. And, I can tell you from experience... you can teach your children the right way to go for 16 years, have them in church the whole time, talk to them at the dinner table... teaching them every minute you have to spare... but the fact is, young people make mistakes... and sometimes, very selfish and poor decisions. Many times, like so many in the world today, they don't understand that those decisions effect many more folks than just themselves, and they seldom look at the big picture, only the immediate moment. And if you place the best of children in bad company, if even for just a while, let me tell you, things can go bad in a hurry. And, for some reason, good girls are attracted to bad boys much of the time.
This being said, I can say from my experiences, that just because your children do something that is totally contrary to your teaching and value system... this does not mean that your value system has changed. I believe Sarah Palin to be a good Christian Woman, and the fact that her daughter has made a mistake in judgment doesn't change that... it just means that this is a family who is struggling through the same issues that all of us Christian families are struggling through in this dark and sinful world that we live in... a world in which many of these sins are glorified... a world where tatoos are beginning to cover the children, so many are wearing black and adorn themselves with darkness and shave their heads... maybe it's just me... but it troubles me.
So... I will be voting this November... and I will be praying for McCain-Palin... and I will be praying that God does not give our nation the leaders that we deserve.... but rather, the leaders that we need.
